How do I avoid coverage gaps and missed payments?

How to prevent missed payments and coverage gaps on your APOLLO policy — backup cards, keeping card details current, and knowing your billing date.

Written by Celina De Bruge

A lapse in coverage — even a short one — means any incident during that gap won't be covered, and a history of lapses can affect your future premiums. Here's how to make sure it never happens.

Three things that prevent coverage gaps

1. Add a backup payment card
This is the single most effective step. If your primary card fails, APOLLO automatically charges the backup before any retry notices are sent — your coverage never skips a beat. Add a backup card any time through the Customer Portal under payment details.

2. Keep your card details current
Update your payment method in the Customer Portal as soon as you receive a new or replacement card — don't wait until your next billing date. Expired cards are the most common cause of failed payments.

3. Know your billing date
Your payment runs on the same date each month from the day you signed up. Log in to the Customer Portal under payment details to confirm your next billing date and make sure funds are available.
