How to opt out of auto-renewal

Step-by-step guide to turning off auto-renewal on your APOLLO policy before or after it has processed.

Written by Celina De Bruge

APOLLO policies renew automatically each year to make sure you're never left without coverage. If you'd prefer not to renew, you can opt out at any time before the renewal date — and in most cases, even shortly after if you change your mind.

How auto-renewal works

Your policy will automatically renew for another 12 months on your expiry date. Here's what the timeline looks like:

  • 90 days before expiry — APOLLO sends you an email letting you know your policy is approaching renewal and reminding you how to opt out if you'd like to.

  • Annual policies: your renewal premium is charged 15 days before your policy expires.

  • Monthly policies: your renewal premium is charged on the day your policy renews.

If you want to opt out, we recommend doing so well before the renewal charge is processed to keep things simple.

How to opt out of auto-renewal

Step 1 — Log in to your Customer Portal

Go to policy-portal.apollocover.com and sign in to your account.

Step 2 — Open your policy details

Select your active policy and navigate to the policy details page.

Step 3 — Turn off auto-renewal

Look for the renewal settings section and select the option to decline or turn off auto-renewal. Your policy will then remain active until your current expiry date, at which point it will end without renewing.

If you'd prefer us to handle it, reach out through our Contact Us page and our team will turn it off for you.

What if my policy has already renewed?

If your renewal payment was processed very recently, you may still be able to reverse it. Contact us as soon as possible through our Contact Us page and our team will check whether a full refund is still available. If the renewal is reversed, your coverage will end on your original expiry date.

If you've already renewed and want to cancel mid-term, a short-rate cancellation fee will apply. See How are cancellation fees calculated? for details on what to expect.

Things to keep in mind

  • Opting out of auto-renewal does not cancel your current policy — your coverage stays active until your existing expiry date.

  • If you opt out and later change your mind, you can re-enable auto-renewal in the Customer Portal at any point before your expiry date, or start a new policy after it expires.

  • A lapse in coverage (even a short one) can affect your future premiums, so if you're planning to get new coverage soon, try to time it so there's no gap.
