How can I file a claim?

Step-by-step guidance on filing a tenant insurance claim with APOLLO, including deadlines, required documents, and after-hours support.

Written by Celina De Bruge

Filing a claim with APOLLO is straightforward. You can get started anytime through our Customer Portal or by reaching out via our Contact Us page.

When submitting your claim, please have the following ready:

  • Your full name

  • Your policy number

  • The date of the incident

  • A description of what happened

  • A copy of the police report (required for theft or burglary claims)

Filing sooner is always better. For tenant and renters' insurance policies, claims must be submitted within one year of the date of loss - but the earlier you file, the sooner the process can begin. If you don't have all the details yet, that's okay. You can file now and provide additional information as it becomes available.

Immediate steps to take after an incident

Before filing, take a few minutes to document what happened while the details are fresh:

  • Note the time, date, and location of the incident

  • Record what was damaged, stolen, or affected and by whom

  • Take photos if it is safe to do so

  • If you're unable to file right away, write everything down to ensure accuracy when you do

After-hours urgent assistance

If you need help outside of APOLLO's office hours, our claims partner is available to assist:

A few things to keep in mind

  • Submit all supporting documents with your claim to avoid processing delays

  • Some policies may have specific deadlines or coverage variations; review your policy documents or contact our support team if you have questions
