What Is Sewer Back-Up Coverage?
Sewer back-up occurs when a blocked, collapsed, or overloaded sewer pipe causes sewage or dirty water to back up through your drains, sinks, or toilet. This can result in costly damage to your belongings and expensive clean-up costs β neither of which are covered by a standard tenant policy.
Who Needs It?
Many renters assume sewer back-up only affects ground-floor units, but it's actually common in multi-storey buildings too. Blocked pipes can cause back-ups on any floor. If your building has older plumbing or you live in an area prone to heavy rainfall, the risk is even higher.
How to Add Sewer Back-Up Coverage
Log in to APOLLO's self-serve Customer Portal and select "Manage my Policy" to add extended water damage coverage, which includes sewer back-up protection. The change takes effect immediately and your premium will be adjusted accordingly.
